Sermon Review and Application
I benefited from Curtis Allen’s message this past Sunday. The title of the message was “The Sovereignty of God.” The main thing I got out of the message was that God is in control and we must trust him. We never see the big picture. Only God does. So we ought not challenge his plan on the basis of our limited perspective. For example, if someone saw the execution of Jesus, they might think that God’s plans had been defeated. However, everything had gone according to plan. So also, we must trust God’s greater plan rather than try to make God follow our own plan.
You can listen to the message here.
Do you rest in God’s plan?
Do you complain to God or complain about God? The former is a Psalm. The latter is a sin.
Proverbs 3:5-8 (ESV)
 Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
 In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
 Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the LORD, and turn away from evil.
 It will be healing to your flesh
and refreshment to your bones.
For Next Week:
This coming Sunday I’m preaching on John 10. Read the passage and ask yourself what makes Jesus the Good Shepherd.
